Who We Are

Blyk was founded in 2006 with the original idea of making mobile communication free by serving Mobile Advertising to its customers.

Our most valuable learning over the years has been that customers truly appreciate targeted editorial and commercial content on their mobile phone as long as they have opted-in for the service.

The second important learning was that mobile communication doesn't need to be free of charge because customers definitely appreciate they need to pay for the quality and infrastructures of the networks.

Blyk has offered its editorial content and advertising services to mobile operators, publishers and brands from all over the world since 2009

Over the last 20years on the Agency side he has held executive positions at industry majors such as BBDO, The Marketing Store, Fuel Industries, Syncapse Corp and Blyk, most recently focused on the expansion of social/mobile marketing services across N. America.

  • Stephen has amassed over 17 years media sales and management experience across multiple media platforms. For the last 10 years Stephen has specialised in digital media and mobile, working for companies such as AOL, Time Out and the start-up MySupermarket. At Blyk Stephen is responsible for driving the intergrated ad sales in the UK

  • With over 12 years experience in Media, Michael has run 1,000’s of campaigns across Mobile, Print, Online and Social Networks. He has worked on market leading products such as Facebook, Orange, O2, Blyk, The Times, Microsoft, Wall Street Journal and Timeout.
  • Deborah Cordeiro

  • Sales Director South East Asia

  • Deborah has extensive experience in integrated media marketing, having covered both traditional and new media platforms in mostly the B2B space. Some notable companies Deborah has worked in are CNBC Asia, BBC Wordlwide, Luxury-Insider and Getty Images. At Blyk Deborah is responsible for building the business in SEA


Pekka Ala-Pietilä and Antti Öhrling founded the Company in 2006.

Pekka is co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Blyk. From 1992-1998 Pekka was President of Nokia Mobile Phones (1992-1998) and from 1999-2005 President of Nokia Corporation. During his 20 year long career with Nokia, he was pivotal in identifying strategic new business ideas and stimulating long term growth opportunities. He also spearheaded the development of new business and innovative surveying. Pekka also serves on the boards of SAP AG, Pöyry Oyj and Solidium Oy

Antti is co-founder and inventor of orinial Blyk vision, "The Youth Engagement Media Company". Antti has over 25 years experience as a senior manager in branded goods, retail and wholesale, TV& film and advertising industries. Antti is also founder of Contra Advertising Group, which since spring 2009 is part of Touch Worldwide. He continues as chairman of Contra China, an advertising agency specializing in social media marketing, based in Beijing.
